The following article ran in the September 18, 2000, issue of the Democrat and Chronicle and is reprinted here with permission.

Clarifying complaint in 'Drumlins dispute'

The article "Drumlins dispute nearer resolution" (Democrat and Chronicle, Sept. 12) unfortunately is somewhat misleading.

The primary issue is the concern of people in Victor that they purchased their properties upon representation that rezoning for multiple residences was permitted only for "reasonably similar" homes, namely single-family homes and townhouses. The citizens' complaint is that apartment buildings with 154 units are not "reasonably similar."

The developer obtaining sewers does not bring the dispute nearer to resolution. It is the objection of the citizens to the apartment project in the midst of a fine residential neighborhood and the representation originally that all future construction would be "reasonably similar" that creates the problem.

The offended town residents intend to oppose any development which violates the original representation of "reasonably similar."
