Drumlins project plows ahead

The proposed housing development was similar to older plans.

VICTOR — The new Drumlins plan wasn't exactly what the Victor town Planning Board wanted, but it was close enough to go the next step.

Last night, the board ruled the project for 148 townhouses was "reasonably similar" to what was originally proposed when the Town Board rezoned the site in 1985.

Developer Pioneer Corp. presented a sketch plan last night for the 48-acre site off Rawson Road.

New plans call for two, three or four units per building, most of which will be one-story.

The rest will be two-floor, single family homes.

"It was not 100 percent perfect, but it was reasonably similar," said Planning Board Chairman Christie Hart.

Hart said the next step will be a review of engineering plans, which include the layout of the property.

The "reasonably similar" designation was key to an ongoing legal debate between the town and the developer.

Board members initially disagreed that plans were similar because of architectural character, density, and its effects on the environment.

The subdivision will be owner-occupied, and a homeowners' association will be created to manage its roads and undeveloped land, Hart said.
