TO THE EDITOR
Commercial development definedTo the editor: What constitutes a "commercial development?" From my experience as a Real Estate Broker and my limited exposure to real estate law, I would say that a good general definition of such a development would be: "The construction of a facility by and individual, or corporation, for the purpose of producing a product or services, with the primary objective of creating a continuous source of income." Such a facility might conceivably be a roadside vegetable stand, a pizza ship or a shopping mall. It could also include a motel. Of course, such a facility would properly be relegated to areas designated as "commercial." By their very nature, they are "income producing" and, as such, would not ordinarily be allowed to exist in residential areas. It is my opinion that the proposed development of 150-plus rental townhouse unites off Rawson Road in the Drumlins, precisely fits the definition of commercial property and should not be favorably considered by the Village and Town of Victor.
